Assembly might look intimidating when you see all those parts laid out, but it’s more straightforward than you’d think. With the right approach, most people can assemble a RACK pool table in 1–2 hours without professional help. Here’s a step-by-step guide to get you up and running.
Before You Begin
What you’ll need:
- The pool table and all included hardware
- A flathead and Phillips screwdriver
- A level (to ensure the table is perfectly flat)
- A helper — a second person makes lifting much easier
Important: Choose your final location before starting assembly. Moving a fully assembled pool table is difficult. Clear the space completely and make sure you have 5 feet of clearance on all sides.
Step 1: Lay Out All the Parts
Open the box and lay every component out on the floor. Cross-reference with the parts list in your instruction manual to make sure nothing is missing. Read through the full instructions once before tightening any bolts.
Step 2: Assemble the Frame and Legs
- Connect the side rails of the frame together using the included bolts.
- Attach the legs to the frame corners. Make sure all legs are secured tightly.
- Flip the frame upright and place it in your chosen location.
Step 3: Level the Frame
This is the most important step for good gameplay. An uneven table means balls roll in unexpected directions regardless of how well you shoot. Use your level on multiple points:
- Check the length (end to end)
- Check the width (side to side)
- Check both diagonals
Adjust the leg levelers until the bubble is perfectly centered everywhere. Take your time here — it’s worth the extra few minutes.
Step 4: Install the Playing Surface
Lay the playing surface (the table bed) on top of the leveled frame. Secure it according to the instructions. Once secured, check the level again — the playing surface should be perfectly flat from every direction.
Step 5: Attach the Felt (If Separate)
If your model requires felt installation:
- Center the felt over the playing surface.
- Start from one end and pull the felt taut as you staple or tuck it along the sides.
- Work toward the other end, keeping tension even to avoid wrinkles.
- Fold and secure the corners neatly.
Step 6: Attach the Side Rails and Cushions
The side rails (with the rubber cushions) attach to the edges of the table. Line them up according to the instructions, bolt them down firmly, and test the bounce by dropping a ball gently against each cushion — the response should feel lively and consistent.
Step 7: Install the Pockets
Attach the corner and side pockets per your model’s instructions. Make sure each pocket is aligned properly with the rail openings so balls drop cleanly.
Step 8: Final Check and First Game
- Do a final full level check across the playing surface.
- Wipe down the rails and frame with a dry cloth.
- Brush the felt gently from end to end.
- Rack the balls and take a few test shots!
